An exhibit of Sidonia’s fashions is planned to take place at the Windham Textile and History Museum in Willimantic, Connecticut between February 8, 2019 and April 28, 2019. With the cooperation of the Museum and Eastern Connecticut State University, the exhibit will display Sidonia’s original fashions designed and sewn during her 57 years in America. Garments will include dresses, pants, suits, vests, camisoles, skirts, pants, evening wear and even small tote bags handcrafted by Sidonia. Funders include the Connecticut Humanities Fund, the Hochberg Committee of Temple B’nai Israel of Willimantic, CT, Eastern CT State University, and the Museum.
If you are in possession of a garment Sidonia made for you, a friend, or family member, contact Hanna at info@hannamarcus.com. We would love to borrow your garment to display at the exhibit and will give you credit in the signage describing the garment at the exhibit!
Help us portray the story of a woman who willed a life in America after emigrating from a displaced persons camp by using her wits, imagination, and above all, her hands.
